Sadly, as world is progressing at faster rate, many people are left with minimum time and maximum whims which have created frustration in each and every person, both young and old. Many a person are caught in the web of balancing relationships, their goals and and means they have gotten. Moreover, they are not only fighting in this regard with the external world but also within themselves. Unfortunately, with the materialistic progress of world, People are left alone in their fight. Thus, they are unable to share their grievances with their fellow or kin. Resultantly, either they commit suicide and end up their endeavor against apathetic world or they find ways to overcome this parasite of overthinking. Among such solution, Islamic way stands at highest as the suicide among Muslim countries is rare. So what is this? How a Muslim fight against overthinking? let me tell you in details.
first and foremost thing Muslim does is "Tawakkul". A Muslim believes in Allah more than anything in the universe. He believes that his affairs or problems will all be alright one day as his God wishes. Thus, to strengthen his faith, Allah has commanded in Quran, " حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ" (Translation
: Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).” –Surah Al ‘Imran(3:173). This verse of Surah Al-Imran placates his inner soul and he put his all trust in the most wise and all knowing, the Allah Almighty. Also, he reads in Quran that Allah never burdens a soul more than it can handle. Hence, it is the best way to overcome overthinking and disposing off his worldly affairs to Allah Almighty.
Second is his ability of acceptance. When a Muslim reads articles of faith he come across this that "Fate is destined" and he is just the medium and he should bear with it to earn the blessings of Allah. What has happened has happened, now he must proceed with the situation with what has already happened. As, there are many examples, such as of Holy Prophet ﷺ, in the History of Islam which teaches Muslim acceptance of hardship and patience. Allah says in Quran, "يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوا اسۡتَعِيۡنُوۡا بِالصَّبۡرِ وَالصَّلٰوةِ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الصّٰبِرِيۡنَ" (Believers!153 Seek help in patience and in Prayer; Allah is with those that are patient). Thus, He do away with the overthinking by accepting the fate with Patience.
Thirdly, With the Tawakkul and acceptance, he becomes optimistic. He is thankful of Allah for choosing him for test. He is contented for he believes in Allah's Plan. He believes that Good knows what is best for him and what will bring peace for him.
Fourth is the Dhikr (ذکر). Remembering Allah is best way to bring inner peace. Many a religion in the world recommends meditation but the true is found in the Dhikr of Allah. As nothing is omnipresent but He. And, When a Muslim sits in Dhikr, He finds himself conversing with Allah Almighty. Moreover, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has taught us the way to do Dhikr in the best way. However, Quran has also commanded the best Dhikr to read for anxiety and overthinking is,Furthermore, Muslim uses the 5 prayers as the means for Dhikr (ذکر). He comes 5 times on daily basis to converse with the Allah Almighty. He shares with him the secrets and grievances that he has been hiding from the world. Resultantly, burden on his soul is lowered and he feels satisfied. Also, through prayers and supplications He asks Allah and believes that Allah is listening to him. He turns anxiety, fear and concerns into Dua or conversation with Allah. He, the person, then gets his reply in the verse of Quran as, "He knows what is in every heart " Quran 67:13.
